You can now click through to our website to read The Reader Organisation’s Annual Report for 2010-11. The report, which was presented at our AGM a few weeks ago, documents the development of our activities over the past year and illustrates our work through a number of case studies, testimonials and staff highlights.

‘You have no idea how much I adore this group. It makes me feel useful and clever and reminds me how much I loved to learn when I was well and at college. It’s so nice to have a group to go to that isn’t about eating disorders, it gives me a chance to feel connected to the real me again and not my anorexic side.’ F, Get Into Reading group member, eating disorder clinic, Devon

Below are a few pictures from our AGM (which we held in the hall downstairs in our new home at The Friary Centre in West Everton) and the party we had afterwards to celebrate Jane’s MBE:

How frustrated am I! I wish I lived in the North West or somewhere else where Get into Reading is taking off. I run a reading group at our local hospital and am so keen to see it developed but it’s so difficult. I have been to a Reader’s Org event in Nottingham and it just sounds so exciting. What can I do? We have a prison near here, be wonderful to get a group going there or in our libraries. I need some help with this!!!!

Hi Jennifer, I know, it is a shame that we can’t be everywhere just quite yet but we’re working really hard on spreading the reading revolution far and wide. It’s great to hear that you’re running a reading group in your local hospital. Have you been reading A Little, Aloud with them? Have you thought about coming on one of our Read to Lead training courses?

What are your thoughts?
