The Play’s The Thing Masterclass
Earlier this week, we kicked off our new 2013 calendar of Masterclasses in London, but it’s never too early to look ahead to the next shared reading adventure in store.
Coming up in February, we have a special Masterclass which will explore the reading of drama in play form in shared reading groups. From William Shakespeare to Willy Russell, Victoria Wood to Caryl Churchill, plays offer a range of great literature as well as the opportunity to reach out to new audiences.
The Reader Organisation’s Project Worker Amanda Boston will lead the session, where attendees will read a range of playscripts together to discover how drama can provide a fresh take on a shared reading group, encouraging reading aloud by group members who are sometimes reluctant to do so. No previous acting experience is required: just a willingness to share the power of the spoken word.
Masterclasses are designed to foster deeper understanding and practise of shared reading in specific areas, and are available to those who have completed Read to Lead. Masterclasses are free for the first 12 months after completion of Read to Lead; following this, places cost £25 for a half-day session.
To book your place on this special Masterclass, please contact Roisin Hyland, Literary Learning Coordinator, on firstname.lastname@example.org or 0151 207 7207, stating the date and location of the Read to Lead course you completed.
