Job Opportunity: Family Project Worker, Everton

The Reader Organisation is looking for a versatile and enthusiastic person to take responsibility for a whole population reading project in the Everton area of Liverpool.

  • Full time
  • 1 year fixed term contract
  • £15,000 – £18,000 per annum (depending upon experience)

Client groups will include parents with infants, school children, adolescents and adults, and there will be elements of outreach and informal training as well as group delivery.  If you can enjoy your mornings helping parents share picture books, crafts and nursery rhymes with their little ones, and your afternoons reading The Sea Wolf with the mens’ group, this could be the post for you!

You will be required to set-up, establish and facilitate weekly story-times and shared reading groups in order to promote reading for pleasure, well-being and family literacy. You will also run informal training courses for parents and carers around reading with their children, take the lead in organizing one-off family events and supporting a large-scale local book giveaway project that is launching in the area (Thrive at Five), by signing families up.
